The Missouri gets its start near the little town of Three Forks, where the Madison, Jefferson and Gallatin come together to form the might Mo. There are pretty much trout all the way to Fort Benton but for the sake of this fishing report we are talking about the tailwater below Holter Dam. Dont hesitate to give us a call about the other sections though, because this river is one of our favorite haunts for trophy fish. The Holter section is quite possibly the epitome of a big western dry fly tailwater, dont get us wrong, as with any river most trout eat the majority of their diet underwater but this is the river to fish selective trout. Without a doubt the best dryfly tailwater in wild west country.
